Character Name: Jonathan "JoJo" Joestar
Character Canon: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Phantom Blood, if you want to be specific.)
Canon Background: http://jojo.wikia.com/wiki/Jonathan_Joestar
Omegafriends Background: JoJo is the only child of a wealthy British family. Sort of. While his mother died in a car accident shortly after his birth, and his father hasn't remarried, the Joestar patriarch did take in a poor orphan of similar age to young JoJo. This boy could be Dio Brando, but maybe he isn't. I don't intend to specify anything else, in order to leave options open for any potential Dio appers.
When JoJo went to college, he decided to study archaeology, inspired by his interest in a strange stone mask of Mesoamerican origin in his father's possession. He studied the mechanics of the mask, but he didn't learn its true purpose until an eccentric Italian by the name of Will A. Zeppeli waltzed into his life. Zeppeli had been part of the crew that originally unearthed the mask, and had spent decades trying to track it down again. He knew from experience that the mask, when used properly, would turn its wearer into an evil vampire, and he was determined to destroy it.
JoJo was sympathetic, but reluctant to allow something that he viewed as a last memento of his departed mother to be destroyed. Zeppeli recognized JoJo's honest heart and strong will and knew he wouldn't abuse the mask's power, so he decided to leave it in his care, on the provision that JoJo would learn his vampire-fighting technique, an Eastern art known as Sendo, just in case.
Having learned this cool fighting power, JoJo wasn't content to just sit on it, not when he could use it to help people. He took up the superhero alias of Guardian Star and began fighting crime in England while still continuing his studies. Recently, an opportunity to participate in a student exchange program with Venture City College of the Arts came up and JoJo practically leapt at the chance.
Affiliation: Omegafriends member, assuming that's OK with his presumably temporary residence.
Personality: JoJo aspires to be a true gentleman. This is the driving force between pretty much all his actions. He is chivalrous, rushing in to defend Erina from bullies even when he's never met her before in his life. He is principled, rushing in to defend Erina from bullies even when he knows they can totally kick his ass. He is helpful, (trying to) get Dio's bag for him when he moves in, even though they have plenty of servants. He is studious, developing extensive notes on the mechanics of the mask he inherited, and he is consequently knowledgeable in his field and related ones. He is kind and compassionate, sparing Speedwagon and company any severe injury even though they attacked him unprovoked and with intent to kill. He is brave and courageous, facing off against a vampire on his own without any effective way of fighting it. He puts the needs of others before his own, burning down his own home and severely injuring himself to put said vampire out of commission.
Though JoJo is normally mild-mannered, once he's put his mind to something, he's unstoppable. His friends and family are very dear to him, and if anything threatens or harm them, he'll do anything within his power to put a stop to it. And his power's nothing to sneeze at once his blood's started boiling. As Dio puts it, the more you beat him, the stronger he gets, and he'll endure any risk to life and limb if it means protecting something important to him.
Although JoJo's good points are many, he is not completely devoid of flaws. To say that his kindness borders on naivete is somewhat like saying that the sky borders on being blue. An argument could be made for the veracity of the statement, given that the sky is not always 100 percent blue and technically speaking it's really closer to a cyan, but seriously. It's a ridiculous understatement of the truth. JoJo's ample good nature makes it very easy to take advantage of him. I mean, he forgave and got along with Dio pretty well for seven years after the guy kissed his girlfriend and murdered his dog. The guy is, quite frankly, a total pushover under normal circumstances.
Powers: JoJo is trained in the art of Sendo, a breathing technique used to create energy called hamon in the bloodstream, which can then be projected from the body to various effects. Hamon uses the same wavelength as sunlight, making it a particularly effective weapon against vampires. Transmitting hamon generally requires direct contact, but it can also be conducted through physical objects such as stone, metal, and water. The better something is at conducting hamon, though, the less it can be affected by it, with metal almost entirely immune to it.
Things JoJo can use hamon for:
-Overdrives: Releasing charged up hamon as an attack, this is JoJo's primary use of hamon. JoJo tends to name various Overdrives after colors, but this appears to be an eccentricity he picked up from Zeppeli rather than being necessary to use them or something that indicates any actual difference between the uses.
-Minor healing factor: JoJo can use hamon to heal anything from minor cuts to broken bones. Things like severed limbs or fatal wounds, however, are beyond his abilities. JoJo can also project his hamon outwards to heal others, with the same limits. It's not liable to come up, but regular hamon use also slows the aging process.
--With this ability he can also dislocate his own shoulder and pop it back in without any ill effects, allowing him to punch farther than his arm span should allow.
-Charging objects with hamon, reinforcing their strength: This has canonically been used on hair, spaghetti, and even soap bubbles.
-Control over water tension: A skilled/practiced hamon user can use this to walk on water, but at JoJo's current level, he still sinks up near his knees.
-Magnetism: Hamon can be used to amplify the human body's natural magnetic properties as well as the magnetic properties of other objects. This has been used to make a hang glider out of fallen leaves. Because that makes sense. A more rational use is wall-crawling, although this is a particularly difficult use of hamon that requires more training/practice than JoJo currently possesses. He'll probably get the hang of it eventually, though.
-Minor control over living things: Another character in the series uses his hamon to control the actions of a civilian, but JoJo is too much of a proper gentleman to use this ability like that (though he did use it on a zombie once under extreme duress). I don't intend to ever use this ability and am mostly just listing it for completeness's sake, but just for the record, if a situation does come up where I'd use it on another PC, I would, of course, ask first.
JoJo is also a damn big guy—6'4" and built like seven trucks—who plays rugby and boxes for sport, so he's a capable fighter even without his hamon. Also he's obscenely, disgustingly rich. That counts as a superpower, right?

Notes: Are we sure this doesn't count as apping a duplicate Superman?
